Zero Tolerance for Stubble Burning: Commissioner Faisalabad Warns Revenue Staff of Action

FAISALABAD: Nov 06 (Digital Itla) — Commissioner Faisalabad Division, Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, has directed government departments to intensify anti-smog enforcement measures across the division and submit daily action reports, officials said on Friday. (Handout No. 1586)

Chairing a high-level divisional review meeting, the Commissioner issued strict instructions stating that stubble or waste burning will not be tolerated on any government land. He warned that field revenue staff would be held directly accountable if any incident of stubble burning occurs within their designated jurisdictions.

To streamline enforcement, the Commissioner assigned overall monitoring duties for rural areas to Additional Deputy Commissioners Revenue (ADCRs) and urban zones to Additional Deputy Commissioners Enforcement (ADCEs). He mandated that anti-smog committees across all four districts of the division hold routine meetings and submit official minutes to the Commissioner's Office. Furthermore, directives were issued to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to execute emergency field inspections against industrial units and vehicles contributing to smog formation.
