Harappa Toll Plaza Raid: FIA Arrests 2, Recovers Rs 54.04 Million in Illegal Currency Exchange Operation

SAHIWAL/FAISALABAD: Nov 5 (Digital Itla) — The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sahiwal Circle has seized over 54 million rupees ($194,000) and arrested two suspects in a major operation against illegal money transfers and unauthorized currency exchange, officials said on Thursday.

Acting on the directives of DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar and Director FIA Faisalabad Zone Saqib Sultan Al-Mahmood, a team supervised by Deputy Director Sahiwal Circle Altaf Gohar Wattoo conducted a raid at the Harappa Toll Plaza. The operation led to the arrest of suspects Muhammad Owais and Muhammad Naim.

According to the FIA spokesperson, officers recovered 54.04 million PKR in cash, two mobile phones, and a Chery vehicle. The suspects failed to provide any valid license or authorization from the State Bank of Pakistan or the Government. FIR No. 06/2026 under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1947 has been registered, with Inspector Kashif Hussain Alvi assigned to head the investigation.
