Think Twice Before Posting on Facebook, Or Else!!

09 July 2026

(Digital Itla) Think carefully before posting anything on Facebook to ensure your post does not become a tool for the negative activities of cybercrime mafias. Wouldn't it be strange if you mentioned a dispute with a friend on Facebook and it later appeared in AI search results? Yes!! Facebook's new AI mode is using public posts as a data source for search results, which could increase the risk of cybercrime and the spread of misinformation.

According to reports, Facebook is preparing to introduce a major artificial intelligence (AI)-based change to its search feature, after which the search bar will function like a chat assistant rather than just searching for words. Through the new feature, users will easily be able to search for years-old public posts, comments, and other available information in a question-and-answer format. This will bring up information in moments that was previously difficult to find among thousands of posts.

According to experts, this feature will ease access to information; however, it may also increase concerns regarding privacy and online security. They state that if public posts are searched and analyzed more effectively through AI, cyber fraud elements could also exploit users' information to target them more easily. To protect your personal data from AI, do not make your Facebook posts public; instead, restrict them to friends and followers only. You can do this by going to Facebook settings and using the "Limit Past Posts" tool. This process will change all your old public posts to "Friends Only." Experts advise users to exercise caution when sharing personal information on social media and to regularly review their privacy settings to prevent unnecessary information from being publicly available.
