(Digital Itla) To tackle rising urban temperatures without solely relying on air conditioners, China has introduced an innovative and cost-effective "rooftop rain" cooling system in Yuncheng, Shanxi province.
High-pressure nozzles installed on the roofs of high-rise residential buildings release an ultra-fine mist of water into the air. Operating on the principle of evaporative cooling, the mist absorbs heat and lowers surrounding temperatures by up to 8°C. The system is strictly activated on scorching days, ensuring the micro-droplets evaporate completely into the air before reaching pedestrians on the ground.
