Punjab Govt Announces Home Repair Loans Up to 10 Lakhs

(Digital Itla) The Government of Punjab has announced interest-free loans ranging from 5 to 10 lakh rupees for home repairs or roof installations. Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin stated that under the "Apni Chhat Apna Ghar" (Our Roof, Our Home) program, the scope has been expanded to provide relief to low-income and homeless individuals.

During a high-level meeting chaired by Bilal Yasin—attended by the Secretary of Housing, the President of the Bank of Punjab, and the DG PHATA—it was decided that alongside constructing new houses, financial assistance will now be extended to repairing dilapidated homes.

The briefing revealed that 170,000 families have already received interest-free loans under this revolutionary scheme. The government has set a target to provide interest-free loans to an additional 100,000 families in the next financial year. This scheme primarily benefits low-income, homeless, and underprivileged families living in mud or dilapidated houses.

Bilal Yasin emphasized that under the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, all loans are completely interest-free, low-cost, and distributed through a transparent process. Citizens can easily apply online via an e-portal, saving them from visiting offices or standing in long queues.
