All 14 Escaped Prisoners Re-Arrested in Rawalpindi

05 July 2026

(Digital Itla) Rawalpindi Police have re-arrested all 14 undertrial prisoners who escaped from a prisoner van during a court appearance.

A spokesperson for the Rawalpindi Police stated in a release that a grand operation was launched immediately after the incident. Within 72 hours, 13 out of the 14 escapees were caught, and the final fugitive, Asad, was taken into custody today, successfully concluding the search operation.

The spokesperson added that due to the excellent strategy of senior Rawalpindi Police officers, all escaped prisoners were apprehended in a short period without any untoward incident.

Notably, on June 29, 2026, 14 suspects brought to court from jail managed to escape. Police caught 4 prisoners immediately, while a search continued for the remaining 10. The prisoners had created a commotion inside the van before throwing chili powder into the police officers' eyes to make their escape.
