(Digital Itla) A recent report has revealed that working men in Pakistan are also facing large-scale harassment at workplaces, alongside women. Within a single year, hundreds of men formally approached authorities against harassment.

According to official documents from the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH), a total of 1,290 individuals (both men and women) from across the country approached the ombudsman regarding workplace harassment over the course of one year.

  • Out of these, 769 complaints were filed by women.

  • A record 521 complaints were registered by men.

This indicates that nearly 40% of the total complaints lodged with the Federal Ombudsman came from men.

The report highlights that the highest number of complaints by men was registered in Islamabad, while Punjab ranked second. Looking at other provinces:

  • Peshawar (KPK): 42 men filed complaints.

  • Karachi (Sindh): 24 men filed complaints.

  • Balochistan: 2 men approached FOSPAH.

Out of the 769 complaints by women, the highest number also came from Islamabad (496 cases), followed by Punjab with 154 cases. This suggests that awareness and reporting rates regarding harassment are higher in the federal capital and Punjab compared to other regions.

FOSPAH took swift action on these complaints, fully resolving 1,104 out of the 1,290 cases within the year to provide justice to the victims, while fast-track hearings are underway for the remaining cases.
