FIFA: Mexico Defeats Ecuador to Qualify for Quarter-Finals After 40 Years

(Digital Itla) – Mexico defeated Ecuador in the Round of 32 match of the Football World Cup. Quiñones scored the first goal for Mexico, and Jiménez added the second, leading Mexico to a 0-2 victory over Ecuador.
It is noteworthy that Mexico has qualified for the pre-quarterfinal stage for the first time in 40 years. Prior to this, in a FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage match, France defeated Sweden to qualify for the pre-quarterfinals.
