Government Cuts Kerosene Oil Price by 6.85 Rupees Per Litre

27 June 2026

(Digital Itla) Providing partial relief to the public, the federal government has announced a reduction of 6.85 rupees per litre in the price of kerosene oil. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued an official notification to this effect, making the new prices applicable immediately.

According to the notification, the new price of kerosene oil has been set at 227.05 rupees per litre, down from its previous retail price of 233.90 rupees per litre. The government stated that this price drop was made in light of fluctuations in petroleum product prices in the global market, import costs, and recommendations from relevant institutions. The official statement noted that petroleum prices are reviewed systematically based on international market trends, the value of the rupee, import expenditures, and taxes, with adjustments made in the public interest. Experts suggest that the drop in kerosene prices will offer some relief to consumers residing in cold and remote areas of the country, where kerosene oil is still utilized for household needs and heating. However, a large segment of the public is still waiting for a reduction in petrol and diesel prices, as these fuels directly impact transport costs and the prices of daily essential commodities.
