(Digital Itla) British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his resignation from office. Addressing the media, he stated that taking the oath as Prime Minister was a momentous milestone in his life. He emphasized that he always worked for the UK, with public welfare being his utmost priority. Starmer noted that he took charge of the Labour Party six years ago when the party was bankrupt, adding that they successfully revived both the party and the national economy.
He remarked that changes do not happen overnight and require time, but he tried his best to fulfill his promises. Under his leadership, the UK progressed, and he strengthened the economy within two years while reinforcing ties with allies. He stated that he would ask the Labour Party to prepare a timetable for the leadership transition, with nominations starting on July 9. He assured that he would make every effort to ensure an organized and smooth transition of power and would extend full cooperation to his successor. Keir Starmer was elected as the British Prime Minister on July 5, 2024.
