WhatsApp’s New Feature Leaves Users Curious

23 June 2026

(Digital Itla) Wondering if someone has blocked you through an internal security feature of the app? Now, a WhatsApp feature might make it easy to find out. According to feature trackers, WhatsApp’s automated end-to-end encryption verification system can help indicate if you have been blocked. This feature was originally designed to verify that chats are completely secure and end-to-end encrypted.

To access this feature, a user can open a chat, tap on the contact’s name, and select the encryption option. WhatsApp then automatically verifies the chat's encryption. According to the report, if everything is normal, the verification is completed successfully. However, if WhatsApp repeatedly fails to verify the encryption and suggests alternative methods, it could be a sign that something unusual is happening, and you have potentially been blocked. The highlight of this method is that it requires neither sending a message nor making a call, and the other user receives no notification whatsoever. However, WhatsApp has not yet officially confirmed that this feature can be used to check for blocks. Experts note that while this issue is frequently observed in chats where a user has been blocked, it should be taken as a strong indicator rather than definitive proof.
