(Digital Itla) The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert regarding the expected weather conditions and potential hazards in various parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to the NDMA, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds, dust storms, gales, and thunder in most areas of the country. The agency stated that the current weather situation aligns exactly with the weather assessment issued by the NEOC three to four months ago, while advance awareness is being provided to all relevant institutions to handle the emergency situation effectively. Rain with thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad and various areas of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Jhelum, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Khushab, Jhang, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
Similarly, rain has been predicted in various regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Peshawar, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan. The NDMA has issued a special alert regarding the risk of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir, warning that a threat of flash floods, landslides, and debris flows exists.
On the other hand, the possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms has been expressed in Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Khuzdar, and Zhob in Balochistan, as well as Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Dadu, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, and some areas of Karachi in Sindh. The NDMA has directed the district administration, rescue agencies, and relevant departments to maintain continuous monitoring of sensitive areas and be fully prepared to deal with emergencies. Citizens, especially tourists and travelers, have been advised by authorities to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains and to check the weather and road conditions before heading towards northern areas.
