Crown Princess's Son Sentenced to Prison in Two Sexual Assault Cases in Norway

(Digital Itla) Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been sentenced to 4 years in prison in two sexual assault cases. According to British media reports, an Oslo court found the 29-year-old Marius Borg Høiby guilty of two charges of sexual assault, and following this court decision, he plans to file an appeal against the sentence. According to court documents, Marius Borg Høiby was first arrested in August 2024 following a domestic violence incident in the Frogner area of Oslo. Later, the police expanded the scope of their investigation, inspecting a total of 40 allegations against him, which included rape, drug-related offenses, and traffic law violations. Marius Borg Høiby was formally indicted in August 2025, after which the trial, which began on February 3, 2026, lasted for nearly 7 weeks. The prosecution had requested the court to sentence the accused to 7 years and 7 months in prison along with a fine of 580,000 Norwegian Krone, but the court handed down a 4-year prison sentence. It is worth noting that Marius Borg Høiby was born on January 13, 1997, in the Norwegian city of Kristiansand; he is the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit and her former partner Morten Borg. Crown Princess Mette-Marit married Norway's Crown Prince Haakon in 2001, while Marius Borg Høiby holds no royal title and is not in the line of royal succession.
