US Escalates Airstrikes on Iran: Explosions Heard in Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, and Kish Island
11 June 2026
(Digital Itla) The United States has intensified its airstrikes on Iran, with powerful explosions echoing across multiple cities, including Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, and Kish Island. Following Washington's announcement of a major offensive tonight, deafening blasts were reported by Iranian media. While the exact nature and damage of the explosions remain unconfirmed, air defense systems were heavily activated in western Tehran to intercept enemy strikes.
Blasts were also reported across Mainab, Fars province, and the Gulf region, though Iranian state media downplayed some reports, claiming that no direct explosions occurred on Kish and Qeshm islands and that the sounds were related to ongoing clashes in the wider Gulf. Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the initiation of fresh operations, stating that additional defensive strikes are actively hitting multiple targets across Iran.
This escalation follows an announcement by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who declared that the US would launch massive strikes tonight targeting critical Iranian installations. US President Donald Trump also issued a stern warning, stating, "We launched severe strikes against Iran yesterday, and we will do it again today." Responding fiercely to the American threats, Ibrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, stated, "We are not afraid of fighting defeated people. If a war breaks out this time, it will not remain confined to the region alone."
