Lahore / Faisalabad: October 28 (DIGITAL ITLA) — High Court Judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has formally resigned from his judicial office, citing severe concerns regarding constitutional amendments and executive oversight over the judiciary.

In his resignation statement, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani stated that the passage of the 26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments has curtailed the independence of the judiciary while substantially increasing executive influence over judicial operations.

He noted that under the current amended legal framework, the executive arm now effectively controls judicial appointments, transfers, and administrative affairs, thereby compromising the core principle of an independent judiciary and making it unviable to continue his duties.
